Sapporo | Hokkaido Railway Technical Center: A Great Place to Learn About Hokkaido's Railway History

#AugustDestinations2025

The museum is located within the JR Hokkaido Naefusa Works. It offers free admission to the general public on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. It showcases the history of Hokkaido railways.

The museum features a wealth of exhibits, including locomotive markings, lifelike cut-away models of rolling stock, driver's cabs, cut-away models of electrical equipment, and railway history. Outside, a steam locomotive is on display, making it a worthwhile visit.

The Railway Technical Museum is a two-story building displaying used steam locomotives, train panels, signs, dioramas, and authentic Kiha 82 and Alpha Continental taxis.

Access: Take JR Naefusa Station and walk to the museum. Naefusa is only one stop from Sapporo, making it very convenient.
