🧘 Hill of the Buddha

Designed by renowned architect Tadao Ando, ​​the Hill of the Buddha is located in Makomanai Takino Cemetery in southern Sapporo. Its highlight is a massive 13.5-meter-tall Buddha statue, surrounded by a mound of earth and over 100,000 lavender plants. Only the Buddha's head can be seen above the mound of flowers. The tranquil atmosphere is ideal for meditation and photography, and the mountain is beautiful both in summer and winter when snow covers it.
