27-3, Lee Jung-seop-ro, Seogwipo-si, Jeju Island (Seogwi-dong)
Seogwipo 87 (서귀포시 이중섭거리)
Located in Seogwipo City, this art gallery temporarily operates while the larger Lee Jung-seop Museum is undergoing renovations.
Lee Jung-seop sought refuge in Seogwipo in the 1940s, a classic example of an artist's unappreciated talent. It wasn't until his death in 1956 that his fame began to rise. Posthumously, he was hailed as a genius... Lee Jung-seop was a 20th-century Korean artist whose paintings were deeply rooted in the hearts of ordinary people, often depicting cattle as his subject matter. To commemorate him, the Lee Joong-seop Art Museum was established in his former thatched cottage. A gentle uphill walk leads to the Cultural Pedestrian Street, where you can see elements of Lee Joong-seop's art, as well as various creative shops.
