Seongsan Sunrise Peak Observatory, or 'Sunrise Peak', lives up to its name as the single best location in all of Jeju (and arguably Korea) to witness the sunrise. The challenging but manageable 20-30 minute climb is well worth the effort, especially in the dark before dawn. Reaching the rim of the massive crater just as the sun breaks over the horizon is a magical, spiritual, and unforgettable experience. The sight of the crater illuminated in golden light is the definitive postcard moment of the island.
