Myeongdong Cathedral, Korea's first brick Gothic building

While strolling through Myeongdong, Seoul's most famous downtown area, you will suddenly come across the solemn Myeongdong Cathedral.

Myeongdong Cathedral is the most representative Catholic cathedral in Korea. Completed in 1898, it is the first brick Gothic building in Korea and has been designated as Historic Site No. 258.

It is lit up at night, creating a romantic atmosphere different from the daytime. Many people visit the grand Christmas mass. It is also famous as a filming location for Korean dramas, and has appeared in dramas such as "You're Beautiful" and "Beautiful Days" starring Jang Keun-suk, making it a standard course for fans to visit the filming locations.

You can enter freely inside. There are times when weddings are held, and we were able to watch the ceremony. The solemn Catholic wedding ceremony and beautiful hymns are soothing.

In the basement, there is a mall called "1898 Square" where you can buy "Myeongdong Cathedral" goods, restaurants, cafes, bakeries, etc., so you can enjoy shopping and gourmet food.
