The National Museum of Korea is a museum representing the Republic of Korea, and its origins can be traced back to 1909, when Emperor Sunjong of the Korean Empire established the Imperial Museum in Changgyeonggung Palace. During the Japanese colonial period, it was changed to the Joseon Government-General Museum, and after liberation, it was renamed the National Museum in 1945.
After going through difficulties in relocating to various places for a long time, it was relocated to its current location in Yongsan Family Park in 2005 and reopened with a grand and modern look.
The National Museum of Korea houses diverse and high-quality cultural heritages from the prehistoric era to the Joseon Dynasty, and through these, it is a space where you can deeply understand Korean history and culture. In addition to permanent exhibitions, it operates various special exhibitions and educational programs, and is a cultural space loved by many people.
