How can you visit South Korea without stopping by this iconic landmark? 👘🏯
Today, I stepped into "Gyeongbokgung Palace" in the heart of Seoul, and it felt like traveling back hundreds of years to the Joseon Dynasty. I chose a hanbok to wear, and from the moment I exited the subway station, it was as if I had been transported into a historical drama. Walking through the palace gates truly felt like time had come to a standstill.
🔸 The palace architecture is breathtakingly beautiful. Every painted beam and every window frame is meticulously crafted. My favorite spot is the plaza in front of Geunjeongjeon Hall—standing there and looking out, the grandeur is awe-inspiring yet elegant.
🔸 I was lucky enough to catch the changing of the guards ceremony. The drumbeats were electrifying, and the atmosphere was incredibly immersive! This isn’t just a tourist performance; it’s an authentic recreation of the royal protocols from the past. Highly recommend checking the schedule for this event!
📸 Wearing a hanbok for photos here is absolutely worth it. I couldn’t stop snapping pictures, especially in front of Gwanghwamun Gate! Plus, hanbok wearers get free admission, and there are plenty of rental shops with a wide variety of options.
If you love history and appreciate beautiful architecture, Gyeongbokgung Palace is definitely worth spending half a day exploring. It’s not just about capturing stunning photos—it’s also a cultural experience that offers a glimpse into ancient Korea.
📝 Tips:
✔ Wear comfortable shoes—the palace grounds are quite large!
✔ It can get crowded, so visiting in the morning is recommended for a quieter experience.
✔ If you don’t mind the cold, Gyeongbokgung Palace in autumn and winter is stunning, with the red maple leaves perfectly complementing the palace scenery 🍁
