[Seoul] Korea's first Western-style greenhouse [Changgyeong Palace Greenhouse] The building was beautiful❗️

Located at the back of Changgyeonggung Palace, one of Seoul's four great palaces, is the Great Greenhouse (Registered Cultural Property No. 83 of the Republic of Korea),
with its ornate Western-style exterior, a stark contrast to traditional palaces.

Completed in 1909, it was Korea's first Western-style greenhouse.
At the time, a zoo was adjacent, and the greenhouse was apparently designed by a Japanese architect.

Despite its simple design, I was captivated by the abundance of glass, perhaps allowing ample light to enter, and the beautiful Western-style curves.

The greenhouse is home to plants such as Chinese laurel, fatsia, boxwood, bonsai, and ferns.
There are also benches available for a rest.

Changgyeonggung Palace has many attractions, including National Treasure No. 226, Myeongjeongjeon Hall, and a filming location for a historical drama.

When the sun goes down, the palace is lit up, revealing a completely different appearance from the daytime.

The grounds are vast, so I recommend bringing comfortable walking shoes and a drink.
