Introducing Woyun Zen Temple

Woyun Temple is the only remaining ancient temple on the highest peak of Mount Emei, with an altitude of about 3,064 meters. Because the temple is surrounded by white clouds under the rocks and lies in the clouds, it is named "Woyun Temple".

The main building of Woyun Monastery had fallen into disrepair and decay. In 2005, the Emeishan Buddhist Association undertook a legally mandated dismantling and repair. The work was completed in June 2006, restoring the majestic "Silver World." The "Silver World" is the shrine for Samantabhadra Bodhisattva's teachings. Like the "Golden World," it is the Pure Land where Buddhas and Bodhisattvas reside and preach. The fusion of the two embodies the highest artistic conception and philosophy of the Samantabhadra Temple on Mount Emei.

The restored Woyun Temple is designed to face east and west. It consists of the Maitreya Hall, the Jade Buddha Hall, and side rooms forming a quadrangle courtyard. Entering through a single gate, the temple features a wooden structure with through-beams, double eaves, a hip-and-gable roof, aluminum alloy tile roofing, and a first-level platform.
