Wandering in the Shakotan Blue of Hokkaido - Cape Kamui

Embark on a self-driving tour in Hokkaido, starting from Otaru and passing through Yoichi before arriving at the Shakotan Peninsula. The destination, "Cape Kamui," is a prominent cape extending into the deep blue Sea of Japan.

The Shakotan Peninsula is Hokkaido's only marine park. Following the scenic trail, you'll first pass through the "Forbidden Gate for Women" before reaching the terminal point of Cape Kamui, which takes about 30 minutes. However, the path is exposed with no shade, so while the Shakotan Blue blending sea and sky is stunning, neglecting sun protection and hydration could lead to heatstroke.

Driving from Otaru City takes approximately 1.5 hours, which is quite a distance. If you're not driving, it might not be worth the trip, as missing the bus schedule could leave you waiting for a long time.
