Finally Checking Out THE Shanghai Planetarium

Excited about this place ever since they announced they were building it, finally able to purchase tickets and wow..the crowds…
It is a branch of Shanghai Science & Technology Museum so it is expected to have a very educational flow throughout their exhibits. All signs are bilinguals so it helps, too! Overall impressive display of astronomical science exhibits and will be more enjoyable with less crowd.

There’s not much else around the area, so can easily make it a day trip. 2-3hrs inside the planetarium and maybe a cab ride to Dishui Lake area to take a stroll along the lake, just to make the hours spent on the metro ride worth it :)

Tips: when buying the tickets through their Wechat page (foreigners can use passport ID), remember to also book the ‘movie ticket’. It’s limited to 50 seats per show.

Getting There - Line16 Dishui Lake stop + 10mins walk.
Attractions - planetarium. Science exhibition.
Hotels - not necessary. Can easily make it a day trip.
Food & Restaurants - only have 2 cafe & restaurants inside the planetarium, no restaurant nearby (unless you’re willing to take a cab, there’s a New Zealand restaurant called Kiwiana not too far).
Shopping - there’s souvenirs shop inside the planetarium.
