Exhibition Introduction: Featuring 400 exhibits including drawings, architectural models, photography, videos, and archival materials, allowing visitors to closely observe Mr. Pei’s work and life.
The exhibition is divided into six main themes: Pei’s cross-cultural background, real estate and urban redevelopment, art and public architecture, power, politics and patrons, material and structural innovation, and reinterpreting history through design. These sections vividly showcase Pei’s unique architectural approach and integrate his works with society, culture, and his life journey. Life is like architecture, and architecture reveals life.
Whispers in the Mist: For those not specialized in civil engineering, it’s recommended to do some research beforehand or combine the visit with your own travels. For example, when viewing the Fragrant Hills Hotel section, it confirms certain events from that time. Seeing the much-debated Louvre Pyramid, I realized I once took a photo from the same angle as Mr. Pei. Anyone who has visited Victoria Harbour has probably heard about the feng shui of the Bank of China Tower—does Pei’s design approach relate to this? In the Suzhou Museum area, follow Mr. Pei to see what it looked like before construction (video)…
