At the edge of Shanghai, this modern metropolis, lies a super healing secret garden 🌳 This time, we’re taking you to check in at Shanghai Bay National Forest Park, truly a natural oxygen bar amidst the concrete jungle!
🌲 Highlights
Shanghai Bay National Forest Park is located in Fengxian District, about 70 kilometers from the city center. It is the only national forest park in Shanghai. The scenery changes with the seasons here—spring is full of blooming flowers, and autumn is painted with colorful forests. It’s definitely the perfect weekend getaway to escape the city’s hustle and bustle.
✨ Must-visit spots
1️⃣ Water Forest Area: Drift on a bamboo raft through the original dawn redwood forest, and you might even see egrets brushing past you—it's like stepping into a fairy tale 🚣♀️
2️⃣ Camping Base: A huge lawn perfect for pitching tents and picnics. The recently popular Glamping experience is also available here ⛺
3️⃣ Flower Viewing Trail: The Cherry Blossom Valley in March-April is super romantic, and in November you can see stunning red maple forests—great for photos
4️⃣ Bird Watching Platform: Home to over 200 bird species, bring your binoculars and experience being a nature observer 🦉
🍽️ Food Recommendations
Don’t miss the forest restaurant inside the park! Signature dishes include:
- Fengxian-style braised pork (rich but not greasy, perfect with rice)
- Forest fresh mushroom soup (made with seasonal picked mushrooms)
- Seasonal wild vegetables (spring’s special recommendation: Malantou mixed with dried tofu)
📍 Location: Lakeside in the park’s central area
🚗 Transportation Tips
By car: Navigate to "Shanghai Bay National Forest Park South Gate Parking Lot," parking fee is 10 RMB/day
By public transport: Take Metro Line 5 to Fengxian New Town Station, then transfer to Fengxian Bus 25 direct to the park
💡 Useful Tips
1. It’s recommended to enter before 10 AM when there are fewer people, better scenery, and you might even encounter small animals
2. Bring mosquito repellent (important!), as there are quite a few mosquitoes in summer
3. It’s recommended to buy an electric cart ticket package (30 RMB/person) because the park is really huge
4. If you have kids, visit the cute pet park where they can also try horse riding
Take advantage of the weekend and come to this city green lung to breathe some fresh air! Remember to wear comfortable shoes and bring your camera—every shot is a masterpiece 📸 Shanghai’s photo hotspot, a hidden gem in the Magic City
