One of the most affordable Mandarin Oriental hotels globally, not only is it budget-friendly, but it also guarantees quality with consecutive 5-star awards from the 2025 Forbes Travel Guide. (In Shanghai, there are three 5-star hotels: MO, Bvlgari, and Peninsula.)

Priced at only 6,000-7,000 THB per night.
The hotel is relatively old but well-maintained. The staff provides excellent service, and there is a Thai staff member named Vimi who specifically assists Thai guests. Vimi is very friendly, and it’s enjoyable to communicate in Thai.
The room I stayed in was called the Mandarin River View, a corner room offering views of both the Oriental Pearl Tower and the Huangpu River. There is one such room per floor, and the view is quite stunning. The bathtub is spacious enough for two people, giving a vibe similar to staying at a riverside hotel along the Chao Phraya River in Thailand.
The hotel facilities are comprehensive, featuring a large swimming pool suitable for Olympic-level laps and a hot spring for a relaxing soak.
The breakfast is very diverse, much like hotels in Thailand. If you enjoy a wide variety of options, this is the place for you. I didn’t manage to take many photos as it was quite crowded during breakfast time.
