💡Hidden activities on Huaniao Island, heartfelt sharing
Places to visit
1⃣️Lighthouse: The largest lighthouse in the Far East. It’s recommended to take the shuttle to the mountaintop around 5 p.m. to watch the sunset by the seaside lighthouse, then take the shuttle down the island, just in time to catch the island’s most beautiful blue hour.
2⃣️Nanao Beach: The largest beach on Huawu Island. From May to October each year, you can see the romantic bioluminescent sea. Usually, homestay owners personally lead groups to throw buckets into the sea to see the layers of glowing waves, which is very interesting.
3⃣️Red and White Pier Road: The only road on the island, half surrounded by the island and half by the deep blue sea. Walking and taking photos along this road offers a panoramic view of the island’s scenery and excellent photo opportunities.
4⃣️Foshou Rock: The best spot to watch the sunrise! If you can get up at 4 a.m., you really shouldn’t miss this place, which also features colorful stone pillars, flowers, and the sea.
We visited during the Qixi Festival in August, and the island had a rose flash mob🌹, rose walls, markets, and night markets. The whole trip was very healing and romantic.

🍤Food notes:
The variety of food on the island is limited and prices are a bit high, but considering the difficulty of transporting supplies, this is understandable.

📸Don’t miss the popular photo spots! Taking pictures by the Huaniao Lighthouse and Foshou Rock by the sea creates a great atmosphere. Kayaks and paddleboards on the beach keep kids happily playing and reluctant to leave, and the cool seawater is very refreshing.

⛵Among the paid activities, sailing to watch the sunset is highly recommended. Fishing with local fishermen also brings a great sense of achievement, and beginners can have fun too.

👣Where to go on weekends? Come here to hike around the island and enjoy the sea breeze! Where to cool off in summer? Shengsi Huaniao Island is a great choice. Friends near Shanghai and Hangzhou, whether for family trips or summer water fun, won’t regret coming here during the summer.
