Shennongjia, an overlooked autumn secret
When people mention Shennongjia, they often first think of the wild man legend and the World Geopark title. But in fact, its beauty is far more moving than these labels.
- Tianyan Rainbow Bridge: Autumn here has spilled its palette, with maple reds and birch yellows flowing over the ridges. The bridge hangs amidst the sea of clouds, rainbow light swirling around the railings, dazzlingly enchanting.
- Dajiuhu Morning Mist: Like a sheer veil shaken off by mountain spirits, wrapping the lake bay’s chestnut trees. The autumn sun spreads over the mountaintop, golden leaves soaked in mist, scattering sparkling light across the lake.
- Waterfalls and Streams: The waterfall at Jinmonkey Ridge crashes onto the green stones, breaking into thousands of silver beads; the waterfall at Tiansheng Bridge flows around the rock walls, weaving a blue-white curtain. This is the echo of Shennongjia.
- Forest Spirits: Golden snub-nosed monkeys climb branches and call, Chinese giant salamanders nap in rock crevices, sika deer drink at the lake hidden in the forest. This is the hidden vitality of Shennongjia.
Unfortunately, if you don’t come, you won’t know this shock— the brilliance of autumn dyeing the mountains and rivers, the fairy-like morning mist and mountain breeze, the life in waterfalls and streams, and the free spirit of living beings.
