I don’t like writing food reviews because if I do, I’ll miss the best time to eat the food, and in order to make the photos look pretty, I’ll have to move the plates around busily.
I didn’t plan to write about it (so some of the food had already been moved when I took the photo 😅😅). As soon as I took a bite I felt the food was of really high quality. Seeing that there were still many empty tables during the busy dinner time, I felt a little sorry for them, so I thought of recommending it.
We sat by the window with a view of the park outside, which was very comfortable. The seating in this restaurant is reasonably spaced. The waiters were also very attentive and polite.
We eat Hubei cuisine here, I don’t know what the special features are 😅😅, but anyway, if it’s not Cantonese cuisine, we will try it. We ordered three signature dishes, "Old Hankou Lotus Root Soup",
"Steamed Danjiang Large White Tripe with Green Onions" and "Spicy Dried Crab Noodles".
"Lao Hankou Lotus Root Soup", the lotus root is very soft and sticky, and tastes very good, even the elderly can eat it.
The soup was thick and flavorful, and the ribs still had a strong meaty flavor (I believe they were added later).
We ordered the standard portion, which contained a lot of lotus root. If there were two of us, I think two portions would be more suitable.
"Steamed Danjiang Large White Fish with Green Onion" has a first-class appearance, the meat is tender and very delicious. But there are a lot of bones, so friends who don’t know how to eat fish should not order it.
"Hot and Spicy Crab Dry Noodles" is very delicious, slightly spicy, the noodles are chewy, and absorb the crab-flavored sauce. It's delicious👍👍, and the portion is quite large, enough for 4 people. The only downside is that it only comes with two small crabs, with not enough meat (looking at the old photos, it should have been a larger crab, but I'm not sure if this was changed due to the incoming goods or cost reasons.)
"Chu Cai" is located in a corner of Area A of AVIC City Junshang Shopping Center, diagonally opposite the popular steam seafood buffet restaurant "Dingjie". Because of the long queue at Dingjie, many "newcomers" were unaware of the existence of Chu Cai. We almost missed it because we were about to turn around after seeing the long queue. Fortunately, we had a chance to catch a glimpse of the Chu Cai sign. If you are interested, remember to go through the long queue and walk to the corner!
