[Yamaguchi Prefecture, Shimonoseki City 🇯🇵 Akama Shrine] A shrine modeled after Ryugu Castle ⛩️

#Spring0yentrip

I went to Akama Shrine in Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture ☺️

Akama Shrine enshrines Emperor Antoku.

He is a tragic emperor who drowned in the Dannoura River at the young age of 8 after the Taira clan was defeated in the Battle of Dannoura, the final battle between the Genji and Taira clans.

It is said that the shrine offers protection from drowning, prosperity in the water business, and blessings from the water and sea, as well as the fishing industry.

It is also said that there are benefits related to Emperor Antoku, who is enshrined there, such as protection from children, fertility, and prayers for safe childbirth.

Akama Shrine was built in the image of Ryugu-jo Castle, and faces the sea.

The shrine was very large.

If you're interested, please go and see it.
