Shirakawa-go: A Fairytale Autumn Village

Shirakawa-go is located in Ono-gun, Gifu Prefecture, Japan, a World Heritage village that is open year-round and is surrounded by mountains that merge into a fairytale picture in autumn with groves, peaks and gassho-made wooden houses. Shirakawa-go is most famous for its rows of Gassho-built houses, each with a unique sloping roof design, which adds a quiet and humanistic beauty to the rainy mountains. Even if the weather is bad, there is still a charm here that makes people want to take pictures.
Attraction Guide and Recommended Tours:
Starting from the sightseeing center at the entrance of the village, you can first walk along the village road and enjoy the Gassho settlement along the way. It is recommended to go to the observation deck first and take a panoramic view of the autumn-colored wooden house from a high place. The red and yellow green trees and roofs are on different levels in autumn. Then shuttle the village, feel the century-old wooden house up close, different roofs, window frame designs are very characteristic. Some dwellings are open for visits (such as the Wada family and the Nagase family), where you can deeply feel the life style of the villagers in the past.
