One of the beautiful winter tourist spots is “Shirakawago Village” located in Gifu Prefecture, Chubu Region. It is a village selected as a World Heritage Site that still preserves the unique and beautiful old identity of a small village full of nature in each season. February is especially the peak time of this village because it has the most snowfall of the year. The village is covered in pure white snow, making it feel like you have entered the snowy town of many people’s dreams during the snowfall. ☃️🇯🇵

For this trip, we chose to rent a car by using Toyota rent a car. The branch we chose was Takayama Station shop. The rental rate starts at around 7,000 yen per day (excluding insurance and tax). Two documents are required for renting: a passport and an international driver’s license. For an international driver’s license, it can be done at the Department of Land Transport. It takes no more than 15 minutes to complete driving through the snow during winter. It is easy to drive and not as scary as you think. 🚗💨

What we like in winter is that the snow covers every roof beautifully. At first, I was a bit worried because this year there was really very little snow. But when the day came, I didn't think it would snow so hard and I saw this view. It was really beautiful. If anyone has a plan to travel and go with a group, renting a car is another fun option because the stories along the way are really beautiful. ☃️🏕🚗
