Sunpu Castle in Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture is the castle where Tokugawa Ieyasu retired and spent his later years as a shogun.

When Ieyasu moved to Sunpu, Sunpu Castle was extensively renovated by the Tenka-fushin, and the castle tower base boasted the largest scale in the history of castles.

It is now maintained as Sunpu Castle Park, a place of relaxation for citizens, and is crowded with families on weekends. It is also known as a famous cherry blossom viewing spot.
