Takeu is an ancient Khmer temple in Siem Reap that is part of the Angkor complex. It is characterized by its magnificent appearance despite being unfinished. 🛕
Takeu was built by Jayavarman V as a temple dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva from the late 10th century to the early 11th century, but the construction was halted midway, leaving the decorations and carvings unfinished.
The Takeu temple is sometimes called the "Temple in the Sky" due to its impressive steep staircase and 50-meter-high central tower. Visitors can enjoy a sense of adventure as they can view the magnificent scenery of the surrounding jungle and temple complex while climbing the steep staircase. ✨
Although there is little decoration inside the temple, its simple and powerful architectural style has an appeal that sets it apart from other magnificent Angkor temples. 👍
One of the attractions of Takeu is that it is rarely crowded with tourists, and you can slowly explore the ruins in a quiet environment.
Spending time surrounded by the surrounding nature and in a sacred atmosphere is a special experience that touches on the history of Angkor!
Takeu is a quiet, hidden spot that you should definitely stop by when visiting the Angkor Wat in Siem Reap.
📍Location: Krong Siem Reap, Cambodia
