Here’s your go-to prep & cost breakdown guide for the 6D5N itinerary!

📅 1. Itinerary Overview
Route: Shanghai – Kumamoto – Nagasaki – Shanghai

Day 1: Depart from Shanghai

Day 2: Cruising at sea

Day 3: Arrive in Kumamoto (8 AM–6 PM) – explore ashore

Day 4: Arrive in Nagasaki (8 AM–6 PM) – enjoy the city

Day 5: Sea day, time to relax onboard

Day 6: Return to Shanghai

📄 2. Documents to Prepare
Passport: Original + a photocopy; must be valid for at least 6 months

Boarding Documents: After online check-in, print your e-boarding pass and luggage tags

Payment Card: A VISA card linked to your cruise account; onboard expenses are charged to your SeaPass card or room number

Currency: Bring some JPY cash for local food/taxis in Japan, and USD if you plan to visit the onboard casino (note: ship’s exchange rate is higher)

🎒 3. What to Pack
Toiletries: Bring slippers, comb, toothbrush, and toothpaste (not provided onboard)

Outfits: Pack pretty dresses, swimwear, long pants, and a jacket (theater can be cold!)

Single-use items: Disposable underwear/socks recommended – drying clothes takes time onboard

Sun protection: Sunscreen is a must, even on cloudy days

Drinks: You may carry a bottle of wine in hand luggage only (not in checked bags)

💰 4. Cruise Fare
Fares vary by date, itinerary, deck level, and room type.
For reference: we booked late May, close to sailing date — only decks 7 & 13 were still available.
We were lucky to get a balcony cabin on Deck 7 with an unobstructed view.
Total for 2 adults + 2 kids: RMB ¥20,595

Gratuities: $18.50/person/day → $396.21 total for 4 guests (≈¥2,800)

Specialty Dining: Teppanyaki, hotpot, Sichuan cuisine, Italian and more (promo offers available onboard, no need to pre-book)

🗾 6. Shore Excursions
Kumamoto

You can book official shore excursions or go freestyle

Take the shorex shuttle bus from Yatsushiro Port to Shin-Yatsushiro Station → transfer to Kumamoto by Shinkansen (10 min)

Taxis available for flexible travel

Nagasaki

Cruise terminal is close to the main sights

Suggested route: Oura Church → Glover Garden → Hamamachi Shopping Street → Atomic Bomb Museum
