Stockholm: How to Travel on a Budget and Experience the Most

#europeonbudget
My trip to Stockholm, a city known for its high prices, began at Arlanda Airport. Instead of the expensive express train, I chose the Flygbussarna bus, a budget-friendly decision that saved me a significant amount of money right from the start. Once in the city, I embraced the mantra, "free is beautiful."
I skipped costly guided tours of Gamla Stan, the Old Town, and explored on my own with a free map. I discovered hidden courtyards and enjoyed a local kanelbulle (cinnamon bun) from a small bakery for just a few kronor.
For stunning views, I headed to the Södermalm district. The climb up the hill to Monteliusvägen rewarded me with a panoramic view of the city—completely free. Instead of an expensive boat tour, I used the public SL commuter ferry to get to Djurgården, which allowed me to see the city from the water for the cost of a standard public transport ticket.
My trip proved that with a little creativity, you can enjoy a rich and authentic experience in Stockholm without spending a fortune.
