Travel guide for Zhangye Kang Le Grassland:

🚗About arrival: It takes an hour to drive from Zhangye.
🎫About tickets: CNY60/person, half price for children. CNY100/car for self-driving into the scenic area. We stayed at a herdsman's house, and the owner said that if you stay or eat in the scenic area, the ticket can be halved, and the car fee is only CNY15/car. You need to call the owner in advance. If you need a phone number, please leave a message.
🍚About dining: There are snacks such as grilled sausages and instant noodles in the scenic area, and there are also herdsmen's restaurants where you can eat stir-fried dishes. The owner of the restaurant we stayed at cooks very delicious dishes, and they are only open for 3 months from June to September.
About playing: The scenic area is very large, and the grassland is very beautiful. It is different from the grassland in Sichuan, with pine trees, Nine Rows of Pine scenic spots, and richer elements. There are many marmots playing on both sides of the road, which are children's favorites. You can ride a horse for CNY60 for a few minutes, which is not very cost-effective. It is recommended to go to Shandan Military Horse Farm to ride, CNY80/hour. Of course, my favorite is still living in the scenic area. After the crowds recede in the morning and evening, it is unusually quiet. The stunning sunrise and sunset, the dazzling starlight and Milky Way, slow down and experience the beauty of nature.
🏠About accommodation: Stay at a herdsman's house in the scenic area, CNY50/person, free for children. The conditions are definitely not good.
👔About clothing: It is more than 20 degrees during the day, very sunny but windy, not hot. It is about 10 degrees in the morning and evening, and you need to bring a light down jacket or thick coat, and a hat to protect you from the wind.
