The private museum "Liyue Museum" near the ancient town of Lili in Wujiang was founded by a foreigner, Mr. Du Weiming. In the early 1980s, Du Weiming came to China for the first time as a student and was shocked by Chinese culture. Since then, Du Weiming has slowly collected Chinese folk crafts and some antique furniture. From the door panels, plaques, big beds, and sedan chairs of the wealthy families, to the small washbasin frames, food boxes, and bamboo baskets, everything is available.
The entire museum is decorated with bright colors, which is very different from other orthodox local museums, and it can indeed bring people the pleasure of the six senses.
At present, there are about 3,000 collections in the museum, most of which come from Zhejiang, Jiangxi and other places during the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
The Liyue Museum is different from other museums. Many objects can be touched by hand. The experience is very good. It is very suitable for bringing children to see. Let the children touch them by hand, which will also let the children understand and feel these old objects. Especially in the area of the medicine cabinet, you can smell the scent of medicine when you open the small drawer.
I really like the atmosphere of the museum and love those old things inside.
