Shaxi Valley Ancient Village

🇨🇳 Shaxi Valley Ancient Village

Shaxi is located in the Jianchuan Valley, surrounded by high mountains and flowing rivers. With a history spanning hundreds of years, it was once a center for trade along the Tea & Horse trade route. Most tea products were grown in Xishuangbanna and transported through Kunming, Dali, and Lijiang, where they were then sold to Tibet and India. This led to a prosperous and diverse population. Today, Shaxi still preserves its traditional architecture, with houses, buildings, and shops made of wood and clay nestled in the city's alleys.

Another highlight of Shaxi is the ancient Yujin Bridge, which crosses the Heihui River and the century-old Xingjiao Temple. Shaxi Square, a crossroads square, has served as a commercial hub and local gathering place from the past to the present. During our visit, we witnessed the wedding ceremony of a newlywed couple. A long string of firecrackers resounded in the square as family members from both sides witnessed the joyful celebration. 🤵👰

The village itself boasts hotels, resorts, restaurants, clothing stores, tea and silverware shops, and a nostalgic atmosphere, making it feel like you're strolling through an ancient town. This village isn't just rebuilt for tourists, but is actually inhabited by people of many nationalities.
