Taichung Trip: The Great Buddha of Baojue Temple!

Baojue Zen Temple (Baojue Temple) in Taichung City
The original main hall of Baojue Temple was made of wood, but due to aging, a large stone main hall (Daxiong Baodian) was added to protect the original structure. This building is also enormous, and looking up at it can make your neck hurt.
If you proceed to the back right of the main hall, you will be greeted by the Great Buddha. Unlike the Great Buddhas in places like Kamakura, this one has a different appearance, doesn't it? With a big belly and a bag, smiling happily, it resembles Hotei, one of the Seven Lucky Gods! It is commonly believed that Hotei is an incarnation of Maitreya Buddha, and this Great Buddha is also called a Maitreya statue.
