Lin Xiantang's garden, Lai Garden

Location: No. 91, Laiyuan Road, Wufeng District, Taichung City

Introduction: The back garden of the Lin family in Wufeng. Before 1875, the Lin family built several buildings and gardens at the site of Lai Garden. After Lin Wenqin passed the imperial examination in 1893, in order to express his gratitude to his mother, Mrs. Luo, for raising him, he specially renovated a garden on a large scale for his mother to live out her days in peace. He named it "Lai Garden" after the story of Lao Lai Zi entertaining his parents with colorful clothes.

Opening hours: 8:30-17:00

Thoughts: Lin Xiantang was one of the famous figures in the Japanese era, and his family's back garden was one of the most luxurious houses at the time, and it was very magnificent. Even after the 921 earthquake, the scenery remains as charming as ever. The cool spring is a great place to enjoy the scenery and spend a leisurely afternoon.
