"The Sound of Incense, the Silent Compassion"—A Visit to the Great Guanyin Pavilion

Walking onto Chenggong Road in Tainan's North District, the streets remain buzzing with the din of traffic and the cacophony of voices. But turning into the ethereal world of incense, time seems to slow down.

The Guanyin Pavilion is not tall, yet it stands firmly through three hundred years of weathering. The Bodhisattva sits upright on a lotus pedestal, her expression imbued with dignity, her eyes cast down, as if she has long since seen through the joys and sorrows of this world. I stood before the incense table, silent, my thoughts rising like a newly lit incense stick, thread by thread, slowly rising.
