The Lin An Tai Historical House, built in 1783, has a history of over 200 years. This traditional Minnan-style single-story courtyard house with two sections and four courtyards was constructed according to local geomancy customs. Its roof ridge structure adopts a single ridge design resembling a dragon, with swallowtail curves that present a naturally soft appearance. The outer courtyard is paved with red ballast stones, which are known for their non-slip and moss-resistant properties. The materials used include a large amount of Fuzhou fir, Guanyin stone for the stonework, and bamboo and wooden nails for mortise and tenon joints.
The crescent-shaped pond in front of the house, according to Chinese geomancy, is designed to gather and store wealth. It not only serves defensive, fire prevention, water supply, and cooling functions but also enhances the environment of the historical house.
A thorough exploration of the house reveals countless essences and wisdom of traditional architectural culture, offering a glimpse into the lifestyle and scenes of the past.
