The seventh section of the Taipei Great Longitudinal Hike is "Zhi Nan Temple Thousand Steps Trail → Zhi Nan Temple → Green Light Platform → Da Cheng Hall Trail → Tea Fragrance Circular Trail → Maokong Station → Camphor Tree Trail → Zhangshan Temple → National Chengchi University Back Mountain". It is popular among Taipei citizens because it is approachable.
The Zhinan Temple Trail was built during the Showa period in Japan. It has a total of 1,200 stone steps. Visitors can enjoy the scenery of Taipei City from the temple, while the Dacheng Hall is the place to enjoy tung blossoms in May. The Zhanghu Trail has the lupine season in March, which also represents the tea culture of Maokong. From the Zhanghu Trail, you can also continue to the Yinhedong Mountain Crossing Trail to Xindian or walk through Zhangshan Temple and go down the back mountain of National Chengchi University.
Zhangshan Temple has an excellent view, with the entire Taipei Basin within sight, and often attracts hiking tourists to stop and take in the view. The temple thoughtfully prepares tea and chairs for believers to rest; occasionally there are local farmers selling agricultural products here!
