Taipei | Special Exhibition of Enamelware at the National Palace Museum: 'Treasures of the Inner Court'

The National Palace Museum in Taipei presents a stunning enamelware exhibition titled 'Treasures of the Inner Court.' The term 'Treasures' originally refers to exquisite jade, but here it metaphorically represents the dazzling enamel artifacts from the Qing imperial collection, as vibrant and radiant as precious gems. From cloisonné incense burners crafted during Emperor Qianlong's reign and gilded vases to Guangdong enamelware exported to Europe, each piece showcases the pinnacle of Qing craftsmanship and aesthetics.

Standing before the glass display case, I was captivated by a blue-ground gilded lotus-patterned incense burner. Its intricate design and vibrant colors evoke the image of it quietly gracing a corner of the Forbidden City, reflecting the grandeur of imperial life.

📍 Location: National Palace Museum, Taipei
