Walking into Jinlun is like walking into a small town where time slows down. Coconut trees sway in the sea breeze, the words on the old station still bear the traces of time, and the elevated railway bridge looks like a clue of memory under the blue-gray sky. If your impression of Taitung is only the coastline and hot air balloons, then you must come to Jinlun for a different kind of tribal trip to see the daily life of the aboriginal tribe and the snack stalls hidden in the street corners that shine silently day after day.
Walking in the small streets of the market, you will see handmade wood carvings, old groceries and the simple aroma of coffee on both sides, as well as the yellow deer antlers that quietly peek out, as if saying "Welcome home" to the travelers. Walking in the alleys of the tribe, you will find many local customs and local delicacies.
We visited several different restaurants this time.
🍽️ Yumijiang stinky tofu
The golden fried tofu is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, paired with kimchi and specially prepared hot sauce, and every bite gives you a "this is the soul" feeling. There is no ostentatious decoration here, but there is real Kung Fu that makes people linger.
🥟 Jiugu Scallion Pancake
The outer skin is half-fried and crispy with a hint of burnt aroma, the surface is slightly crispy, with minced meat and a light fragrance, and their onions are crispy, fresh and full of onion flavor.
🍜 Dinglun Beef Noodles
The soup is rich but not too salty, and the beef is stewed until it is soft and chewy. The details of this bowl of noodles are very well done. It is a beef noodle shop in the tribe, but the quality is almost as good as that of famous restaurants in the city.
🍗 Ganu Canteen
Ganu Restaurant is a small restaurant next to the provincial road of Jinlun Tribe. It looks low-key from the outside, but it is a private recommendation passed down by word of mouth by many locals and tourists. The cuisine here combines indigenous ingredients with home-style flavors. It not only tastes delicious, but also feels like a cultural transmission.
🍩 Xiaomi Donuts
The crispy crust and millet aroma are not too sweet when you take a bite, and have a light fermented aroma. It is the kind of dessert that will make you buy a pack and then go back to queue for a second time.
Follow the path and you will arrive at the legendary wild stream hot spring. Everyone dug their own natural hot spring pools by the stream. The warm spring water mixed with stones, stream water and laughter is the most down-to-earth hot spring experience.
Finally, don’t forget to visit the Dawushan Ecological Education Museum. Looking at the statue of an eagle with spread wings standing at the foot of the mountain, it seems to be guarding the mountains, forests and coastline, and also guarding everyone who is willing to slow down and get closer to nature.
Jinlun is not just a tourist attraction, but a piece of life that makes people want to visit again and again.
