Attraction: Amano Iwato Shrine
📍Address: Amanokawara
Approx. 1-hour drive
This unique shrine is located inside a cave. According to legend, the Sun Goddess was tricked into entering the cave, plunging the world into darkness. People danced and celebrated outside the cave to lure her out and bring light back to the world. The shrine's special charm is an arrow-shaped amulet, priced at around 2,000 yen. Those interested can purchase one.

Attraction: Takachiho Railway
📍Address: Takachiho Station
Approx. 20-minute drive (Adult fare: 2,500 yen)
A fun experience for families with children. The train stops on a 160-meter-high bridge, where colorful bubbles are released, creating a delightful atmosphere.

Attraction: Takachiho Gorge
📍Address: Takachiho Gorge
Rated by CNN as a must-visit destination and one of Miyazaki's 7 top attractions, Takachiho Gorge is the highlight of the day. Row a boat beneath towering cliffs and waterfalls (reservations required two months in advance). It’s a test of both skill and courage. If you want to try flowing somen noodles, make sure to arrive before 3 PM. The traditional bamboo tube somen experience is unique, though it might not be for the squeamish, as you’ll use the same chopsticks to catch, place, and eat the noodles. 🤣

Return to Fukuoka: Approx. 2.5-3 hours by car, depending on traffic conditions. 😜
