Ritsurin Garden: A stroll through a 400-year-old daimyo garden

Ritsurin Garden

This garden, spanning an area equivalent to 16 Tokyo Domes, features six ponds and 13 artificial hills.

Completed over a period of approximately 100 years by successive lords of the Sanuki Takamatsu Domain during the Edo period, it is now designated a Special Place of Scenic Beauty.

It is also one of Japan's most representative feudal lord gardens, earning the highest three-star rating in the Michelin Green Guide Japan.

The park is filled with beautifully maintained greenery, waterfalls, water lilies, sunlight filtering through the trees, and historic buildings.

You'll be soothed by the beautiful scenery that people would have seen approximately 400 years ago.

You can take a boat tour of this beautiful garden.
