In front of the roadside station is the rock "Yoshitsune Rock" where Minamoto no Yoshitsune waited for the rain to clear on his way to Oshu, which is the origin of the place name "Amahara"

Otomo no Yakamochi, a poet of the Manyoshu, also visited this place several times and is famous for composing many poems here
