Located in Takayama, Gifu Prefecture, Japan, this quaint town retains a strong Edo-era atmosphere, especially in the Sanmachi Historic District. The wooden buildings and cobblestone streets make you feel as if you've traveled back in time. Walking along the streets, you can not only find many traditional craft shops but also immerse yourself in the unique local ambiance.
This time, I joined a day tour and arrived here by bus. The most unforgettable part of the trip was tasting the legendary 'Hida Beef' for the first time. The marbled fat melted in my mouth, perfectly complemented by the chef's expert grilling technique. The meat was juicy, sweet, and aromatic, completely redefining my perception of beef. Whether it was grilled, served as sushi, or skewered, each preparation showcased a different layer of Hida beef's exquisite flavors.
The historic charm of Takayama and the deliciousness of Hida beef made this journey truly memorable. This is definitely a place worth visiting again!
