✨ Kumano Hongu Taisha Shrine
This shrine is the head shrine of the approximately 3,000 Kumano shrines across Japan, and is considered the final destination of the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage. After climbing the majestic stone steps, the main hall appears amidst the tranquil surroundings of cedar trees. The Yatagarasu, a saintly deity, is worshipped as a guiding deity. Reaching the shrine after a long walk brings with it a sense of accomplishment and a special, spiritually cleansing atmosphere.

The area around Hongu is dotted with hot springs where you can soothe your fatigue after a pilgrimage to Kumano.
