Sulfur Bath Time in Tbilisi

Some cities call you back—and Tbilisi, with its cobblestone charm, warm welcomes, and soulful energy, did just that. My return solo trip was even richer, slower, and more delicious than the first. Here’s how I fell in love all over again.
My Solo Itinerary (The Encore):
· Morning – Sulfur Baths & Slow Sipping: Started my day in the historic Abanotubani (sulfur bath district)—this time, I booked a private bath for a truly relaxing soak. Afterwards, I wandered through the Leghvtakhevi Canyon waterfall hidden just behind the baths, then sipped Turkish coffee at a tiny café tucked under colorful, leaning balconies.
· Afternoon – Fabrika & Fantastic Food: Explored the Fabrika courtyard—a Soviet-era sewing factory turned into a hipster hub with cafes, boutiques, and art spaces. I joined a spontaneous supra (feast) with other travelers and tried more incredible Georgian dishes: pkhali, badrijani, and of course, more khachapuri.
· Evening – Wine Bars & Warm Conversations: Returned to my favorite wine bar in Sololaki for natural amber wine and conversation with the owner, who remembered me from my last visit. Ended the night listening to polyphonic singing at a small, authentic restaurant far from the tourist crowds.
Why Tbilisi is Even Better the Second Time:
· Deeper Connections: Recognized by shop owners, welcomed like an old friend.
· Beyond the Checklist: Explored neighborhoods I missed before—Vera, Chugureti—each with its own personality and crumbling beauty.
· Seasonal Magic: Visited in autumn this time—golden light, crisp air, and harvest festivals.
Tbilisi doesn’t just welcome you—it adopts you. And returning solo? It feels like coming home.
