City With an Eye On a Bridge - Tianjin!

🤩Nestled along the northeastern coast of China, Tianjin is a captivating city that seamlessly blends its rich history with a contemporary skyline.

📚Tianjin's history dates back to the Ming Dynasty, making it over 600 years old. The city played a vital role in trade and diplomacy, serving as a gateway to Beijing through the Grand Canal. This historical significance is evident in the city's architecture, with charming colonial-era buildings lining the streets of the former concession areas.

🧭Stroll along the Five Great Avenues which is a picturesque district that showcases the city's colonial heritage. Marvel at the architectural diversity, from French Renaissance to Tudor-style houses. Each building tells a story of Tianjin's past and its cosmopolitan influences.

🏙️Tianjin's skyline is a testament to its rapid development. The city boasts some of the most innovative and futuristic architectural designs in the world. The iconic Tianjin Eye, a gigantic Ferris wheel built on a bridge over the Haihe River, offers breathtaking panoramic views of the cityscape.

Tips and Tricks ⁉️

💙Use APP's! This is a time when almost everyone has an access to the smartphone - take advantage of it.

💚Taxi or DiDi? We'll keep it super simple. If you choose to take a taxi make sure that the driver turns on the counter. Legally you don't need to pay anything on top of what the counter shows, even if the driver is insiting. If you need a reassurance just ask for the receipt 🧾. With DiDi you don't need to worry as all approximate costs are precalculated by the app. Just make sure that you can pay for the ride before you get in.

💛Translation! Despite Google translate leaving China it still works perfectly fine with written text. In case you're looking for local alternatives, we suggest "Baidu translate" or "Dear translate".

❤️Map! Sorry Google, but this time you are not my pick number 1. "Amap" and "Baidu map" do a great job to navigate you through streets and alleys of any city, town or village in China. Both of them support live city's public transportation tracking. Unfortunately not in every city though. One of our favorite functions is that we can search the location of a sight, hotel or attraction from Trip.com just by transferring the search directly to the navigation app. Click - Done!

Enjoy!🎡
