Tokyo National Museum Hyokeikan
The exhibition "Cartier and Japan's Half-Century Journey: 'Musubi' - A Dialogue on Beauty and Art" is on until July 28th
To commemorate 50 years since Cartier opened its first boutique in Japan, this exhibition introduces the various stories that connect the Maison with Japan. By the way, Cartier's first boutique in Japan was in Harajuku ๐ซฃ
The collection includes over 200 pieces of dazzlingly shining ornaments ๐, including pieces influenced by Japan. There was even one with Billiken on it๐คฃ
Not only Cartier, but also works by 15 artists who represent the Japanese art scene๐ผ๏ธ
The 50 Skyscapes of Japan right after entering the venue were particularly impressiveโ๏ธ Sho Shibuya traveled to all 47 prefectures, created paintings of the local sky, and these were featured on the front page of local newspapers๐๏ธ
The venue, Tokyo National Museum, has five museums built in different eras, and Hyokeikan was built in the Meiji era and is Japan's first full-scale art museum. It is not usually open to the public, so you can enjoy the building as well. ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐
