🕒Opening hours: 9:30-17:00 daily (extended to 20:00 on Fridays, Saturdays and November 3, but admission stops at 18:30 or 19:00). Please note that the museum is closed on Mondays (open if it is a holiday, but closed the next day), the year-end and New Year holidays (December 23 to January 1 of the following year), and other scheduled temporary closing days. It is recommended to enter before 3 pm and leave before closing at 5 pm to fully experience the wonderful contents of each exhibition hall.
🎟Tickets: Regular exhibition tickets are 1,000 yen (about HK$60), and special exhibition tickets are 2,100 yen (including regular exhibitions and special exhibitions). There are free admission days on some days, such as May 18, September 16 and November 3, 2024, but only for comprehensive cultural exhibitions.
🏛Introduction to the museum:
Main museum: Mainly displays the history and cultural development of Japan. There are Japanese cultural relics on the first floor, and the second floor introduces the history of Japanese art. The Japanese garden is very beautiful. On the first floor, you can experience color printing, which is interactive and fun.
Oriental Pavilion: It has five floors and one underground floor, displaying historical relics of East Asia, including many Chinese relics (such as Tang Sancai, Jingdezhen blue and white porcelain, Shang and Yin bronzes, etc.). There are interactive activities in the upstairs corridor, such as fortune-telling and stamping.
Heisei-kan: Connected to the main building, the second floor often has special exhibitions, such as the "50th Anniversary of the Designation of Armored Warriors as National Treasures - Haniwa Exhibition".
Horyu-ji Temple Treasure Museum, Kuroda Memorial Museum and Hyokeikan: Each has its own unique exhibitions.
