When will they bloom this year, when will they be in full bloom, and how long will they last? Every spring, the entire Japanese nation starts to get excited about the seasonal tradition of cherry blossoms.
Tokyo has many famous spots, but this time, we will introduce the cherry blossoms found in people’s daily lives along with their history☺️
1. Edo Sakura Street
A famous cherry blossom spot in Nihonbashi.
Between beautiful buildings such as the Bank of Japan Head Office (a designated Important Cultural Property completed in 1896), Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, and Mitsukoshi, a row of cherry trees continues.
Cherry blossom-colored light-ups and events are held, making the Nihonbashi area beautifully vibrant.

2. Sakura Hill
Cherry blossom trees visible after passing through the commercial building "Sakura Stage."
Sakuragaoka Town was developed as a residential area during the Meiji Restoration period, and cherry trees were planted at that time.
Until recent redevelopment began, the old townscape remained, and it was an area sometimes called the Galápagos of Shibuya.

3. Yoyogi Park
Before the war, it was an army training ground; after the war, it was used as U.S. military housing called Washington Heights, and later became the Olympic Village for the Tokyo Olympics before turning into a park.
Inside the large park grounds, there are fountains, rose gardens, dog runs, cycling lanes, and more, where people spend time as they please.

4. Tokyo Sakura Tram
The Toden Arakawa Line was nicknamed "Tokyo Sakura Tram" in 2017.
It runs through famous cherry blossom spots such as Asukayama Park, Arakawa Amusement Park, and along the Kanda River.
There used to be 40 streetcar lines throughout Tokyo, but now only this line remains, mostly on dedicated tracks (which have less impact on car traffic).

5. Arai 5-chome Pedestrian Bridge
Cherry blossom trees along Nakano Street, planted starting in the 1950s.
They continue for about 2 km from the north exit of JR Nakano Station to Tetsugakudo Park.
However, the view of the Seibu Line crossing this cherry tree-lined street will disappear in a few years.
Construction for undergrounding has begun to alleviate chronic traffic congestion.
