• Start early in the morning
Head to the "East Gardens" right at the 8:30 AM opening. With fewer people and fresh air, you can quietly enjoy the historic gardens and the remains of the castle tower.
• East Gardens are free & have a baggage check
Admission is free, but there is a simple baggage inspection at the entrance (no reservation needed). You can enter from three gates: Otemon, Hirakawamon, and Kitahanebashimon.
• Comfortable shoes and hydration are a must!
The area is surprisingly large with limited shade, so don’t forget sun protection and heatstroke prevention.
