Worship under the watchful eyes of the cat priests: A light trip to Tokyo Myogi Shrine

🕰️ Opening Hours:

The shrine is open all day (daytime visits recommended)
※ The office for amulets and goshuin is usually open from 9:00 to 16:00, with slight seasonal adjustments

🏖️ Environment / Facilities:

Located in Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo, Myogi Shrine is small but very serene. The shrine buildings are elegant, and the grounds retain a strong old-town atmosphere. The most special feature is the few lazy and friendly cats living here, often seen on the stone steps or beside the purification fountain, sometimes even napping on the offering box, becoming a "surprise highlight" for visitors. There are simple benches and a small torii gate and ema wall perfect for photos.

📍 Address:

🚉 You can take the Tokyo Metro Namboku Line (Exit 5) or JR Yamanote Line (North Exit) to "Komagome Station," then walk about 5 minutes to reach the shrine.

💞 Reasons to Recommend:

・Unlike popular spots, this is a quiet corner hidden in Tokyo city
・The cats are the most healing presence at this shrine, attracting many travelers who come specifically to see them
・Combines the old Tokyo atmosphere with a local lifestyle feel, perfect for artsy and niche route lovers
・Can be paired with a half-day stroll including Old Furukawa Gardens or Rikugien Garden
