Envisioning the Future, Transcending Time—The Present and the Future as Seen through the Mori Art Museum's "Future and Art" Exhibition
Archive Introduction: "Future and Art" (Mori Art Museum)
• Period: This exhibition was originally scheduled to run from Tuesday, November 19, 2019 to Sunday, March 29, 2020. However, due to the impact of COVID-19, the museum was temporarily closed from February 28, resulting in a premature end to the run.
• Objective: This exhibition poses the question of "How will people live tomorrow?" through the application of cutting-edge technologies such as AI, robotics, biotechnology, and AR (augmented reality) to artworks.
• Structure: Over 100 works were exhibited, divided into five sections: "New Possibilities for Cities," "Toward Neo-Metabolism Architecture," "Innovations in Lifestyle and Design," "Body Augmentation and Ethics," and "Transforming Society and Humanity."
• Featured Works: Models and proposals for future cities, such as Foster + Partners' Masdar City, Bjarke Ingels Group's Oceanics City, and XTU Architects' X-Cloud City, were on display, along with works by Yasumasa Morimura and Bio Atelier addressing bodily augmentation and ethics.   
• VR Archive: After the exhibition ended, a 3D walkthrough (VR archive) was made available by Matterport, allowing visitors to re-experience the exhibit from any perspective, including a video commentary by curator Fumio Nanjo.

Latest Exhibition Information (2025–2026)
• Machine Love: Video Games, AI, and Contemporary Art (February 13–June 8, 2025): A contemporary art exhibition themed around games and AI.  
• Sou Fujimoto's Architecture: Primitive, Future, Forest (July 2 – November 9, 2025): The first large-scale retrospective of leading Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto. An experiential introduction to his architectural philosophy through models, full-scale models, blueprints, and more.
• Roppongi Crossing 2025: Time Passes, We Are Eternal (December 3, 2025 – March 29, 2026): The eighth installment of the Mori Art Museum's Fixed Point Observation Exhibition series. The themes are "time" and "eternity."
• Ron Mueck (April 29 – September 23, 2026): Ron Mueck, known for his exquisite figurative sculptures, will hold his first solo exhibition in Japan in 16 years.
• Mariko Mori Exhibition (October 31, 2026 - March 28, 2027): A large-scale exhibition looking back at the work of artist Mariko Mori over the past 30 years, integrating art, philosophy, and science.
