Architectural Highlight: Calligraphy on the 2nd Floor

The highlight of Tokyo Camii's architectural beauty is the calligraphy (Islamic calligraphy decoration) in the gallery area on the second floor of the prayer hall.
• Circular Decoration Under the Dome
The calligraphy band surrounding the ceiling dome features verses from the Quran written in the traditional Turkish "Thuluth" script. The contrast of blue and gold against the white walls creates a majestic atmosphere.
• Archway Decorations
Arabic script is combined with geometric patterns on the second-floor corridors and window frames, and the names of Allah, Muhammad, and the four great caliphs (Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, and Ali) are inscribed in circular medallions.
• Beautiful Craftsmanship
All of these were hand-painted by artisans invited from Turkey, making them not merely decorative but "art that inscribes the words of faith into space."
• Photo Spots
Going up to the second floor of the prayer hall, you can capture the entire inscription from an angle looking up at the dome. We especially recommend capturing the moment when the blue and gold letters emerge in the light streaming through the windows.

Summary

Tokyo Camii is a special place where you can not only participate in events but also enjoy the architectural art itself. A variety of cultural experience programs and cafe social gatherings are planned for the second half of 2025 and into 2026. It's easily accessible to tourists, and well worth a visit as a hidden gem in Tokyo where you can experience Islamic culture with all five senses.
