In Japan, the closest thing to Times Square in New York are the neon-filled districts like Shibuya Crossing and Shinjuku, where giant screens flash endlessly above the city. When Doraemon takes over these spaces, the atmosphere turns magical. Imagine standing in the middle of Shibuya, surrounded by thousands of people crossing in every direction, while the skyscraper-sized LED screens suddenly light up with Doraemon’s smiling face. His voice echoes through the plaza, and the futuristic vibe of Tokyo feels perfectly in sync with this robot cat from the 22nd century.
In Shinjuku, the famous 3D billboard has even projected Doraemon leaping out of the screen, looking so real that passersby stopped in awe to film the moment. Around these events, there are often pop-up shops selling limited-edition Doraemon goods, themed cafés, or statues where fans can take photos.
