Exhibition Overview

This exhibition focuses on the diverse artistic expressions that emerged in Japan over the approximately 20 years from 1989 to 2010. Co-curated with Hong Kong's M+, the exhibition reconstructs the experimental works of over 50 artists from Japan and abroad, created amid the end of the Cold War and the rise of globalization.

• Exhibition Period: Wednesday, September 3, 2025 - Monday, December 8, 2025
• Hours: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM (until 8:00 PM every Friday and Saturday)
• Admission until 30 minutes before closing
• Closed: Tuesdays (open only on September 23rd, closed on September 24th)
• Admission Fee: Adults ¥2,000 / University Students ¥1,000 / High School Students ¥500 (free for junior high school students and younger)

• This exhibition is structured through three lenses:
1. Ghosts of the Past — A Project Addressing War, Atomic Bombing, and Historical Issues
2. Self and Other — The Intersection of Identity, Gender, and Cultural Perspectives
3. The Future of Community — Art practices that explore new relationships and social contexts
 In addition, the prologue and introductory sections illuminate the contemporary landscape across time. 
• Exhibiting artists include Yoshitomo Nara, Makoto Aida, Takashi Murakami, Yasumasa Morimura, Shinro Ohtake, Noboru Tsubaki, Lieko Shiga, Dumb Type, and many others. 
• This exhibition is the first collaborative project between the National Art Center, Tokyo and Hong Kong's M+, and is noteworthy for its diverse international perspectives.
